London City Lionesses have strengthened their squad with the signing of Nigerian winger Rofiat Imuran on a three-year contract, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 20-year-old joins the English Women’s Championship side on a free transfer after the expiration of her contract with French club Stade de Reims.
Imuran, who played a key role in Reims’ back-to-back top-six finishes in the French D1 Arkema, is expected to bring dynamism and experience to the Lionesses as they push for promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League (WSL).
She has already linked up with her new teammates at Hayes Lane, participating in first-team training earlier this week.
Speaking about her move, Imuran said, “I’m very excited to join London City Lionesses and start a new chapter in my career in England.
“Everyone has been so welcoming since I arrived, and I look forward to being able to help the team on the pitch. I wanted to come to London City because the coach presented an interesting project, and I wanted a different challenge.”
Imuran’s international experience includes representing Nigeria at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Before her time in France, she played for Nigeria’s Rivers Angels and Sunshine Queens in the NWFL Premiership.
The Lionesses will be counting on Imuran’s talents as they prepare for their next clash against Charlton Athletic on Sunday, 13 October. Her signing is seen as a significant step toward their WSL ambitions.
