Super Eagles head coach Augustine Eguavoen has unveiled a 35-man squad for Nigeria’s crucial 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifying clash against Ghana, Soccernet.ng reports.
With his roster featuring top talents from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Eguavoen will look to guide the Super Eagles Be team to secure a place in the CHAN tournament.
Nigeria did not make it to the last edition of the CHAN after narrowly losing out to Ghana during the qualifiers.
Nigeria’s squad includes prominent NPFL talents, such as Remo Stars’ wing-back Ismail Sadiq, Kano Pillars’ forward Zikifilu Rabiu, and Enugu Rangers’ midfielder Kazeem Ogunleye.
Also receiving their first call-ups are Nasarawa United goalkeeper Mohammed Galadima, Akwa United’s defender Wisdom Ndon, and Bendel Insurance forward Michael Enaruma.
The CHAN qualifier’s first leg between Nigeria and Ghana will take place over the weekend of December 20-22, with the return leg scheduled a week later.
The two-leg winner will secure a spot in the prestigious CHAN tournament, set to take place from February 1-28, 2025, in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
The tournament, unique for featuring only players active in domestic leagues, offers Nigeria’s homegrown talent an international stage to showcase their skills.
To prepare, Eguavoen’s squad will begin camp in Abuja on October 29.
