Nineteen-time English Premier League Champions, Liverpool, are eyeing a move for Borussia Dortmund and Germany attacker, Karim Adeyemi, Soccernet.ng reports.
The forward, born to a Nigerian father, was a big part of the Dortmund team which reached the Champions League final last season, only to lose to Real Madrid in a game he’d know if he’d done better, he could have lifted the trophy with the German side.
The 22-year-old missed out on Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany Euro 2024 squad, but has returned with a bang this season. In eight games for the Black and Yellows, Adeyemi has scored five goals and provided five assists in all competitions.
During Dortmund’s midweek UEFA Champions League clash against Celtic, the versatile winger came up trumps, scoring a first-half hat trick against the Scottish side, including a deft finish for the third goal.
Adeyemi’s purple patch appears to have gotten a shade darker this season, and as per The Scottish Sun, Arne Slot’s side are weighing up a move for the former RB Salzburg man.
Former Liverpool coach, Jurgen Klopp, regularly had the player watched during his time at Anfield, and that interest is likely to crystallise into something more concrete now that Liverpool have Mo Salah in the final year of his contract.
Adeyemi’s contract with Die Schwarzgelben runs till the summer of 2027, and the six-time UEFA Champions League winners are believed to be confident of snapping him up for as little as £42m.
Despite opting to play for Germany, Adeyemi’s ties to Nigeria remain ever-green.
