Arsenal renew interest in ₦138 billion-rated Super Eagles striker

Former English Premier League champions Arsenal could attempt to sign Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli in January, Soccernet.ng reports.

Osimhen's future has continued to dominate the news despite joining Galatasaray in the summer transfer window. Before making that move, the 25-year-old Nigerian striker had been linked with top European clubs like Chelsea, PSG, and Arsenal. However, the transfer did not materialize as all the parties involved failed to reach a compromise.

After he failed to get his big move, Galatasaray swooped in and got Osimhen's services in a season-long loan deal.

Still, the talks have not stopped. According to Turkish outlet Skorer, Arsenal are weighing up a transfer for Osimhen in January.

The price tag on the Nigerian was the major hindrance to a transfer during the last summer transfer window. Napoli were asking for $120 million for Osimhen's services.

However, Osimhen's value has dropped significantly. He is now valued at €75 million according to Transfermarkt and this would be quite affordable for the Gunners. But this value could still increase or drop, depending on Osimhen's performance at Galatasaray.

If Arsenal want to get their man, they would have to move fast, as other top clubs would also be monitoring the Nigerian in view of a transfer.

Arsenal could suit him(Osimhen) better than Chelsea, for now a more stable trophy contender club needing a consistent source of goals, Gabriel Jesus adds a different dimension, but lacks the output plus recurring injuries(he could be used on the wings or sold) and I think Kai Havertz role as a False 9 suits him best but long term may not be the sole answer. Honestly I think Chelsea’s issue is defence than attack, but the front man role is an easy question (but Chelsea is not a current contender for trophies). PSG is good and if he brought them Champions League (that would be something special) but as Nigerians we don’t just want to see him play in the Champions League.
