Rwanda 0-0 Nigeria: Match ratings- Lookman’s efforts are stifled, Onyemaechi, Aina impress

The Super Eagles of Nigeria were forced to a goalless draw in their second game of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Rwanda at the Stade Amahoro in Kigali.

It was a decent outing for the three-time kings of Africa, but they failed to get the goals. The defense line was water tight, but the forwards failed to create enough chances against the stubborn Amavubi.

Soccernet.ng rates the performances of the players who were on duty for the Super Eagles on the day.

Stanley Nwabali 7.3/10: The Chippa United star continues to prove his worth in the colors of Nigeria. He was very solid in the goalposts, had a good command of his area in aerial situations and was constantly communicating with his defenders. He also made some calm saves in the game.

William Troost-Ekong 7/10: The Super Eagles skipper was very solid in the backline. He had a bad moment in the first half when he was caught napping after a cross. However, his blushes were saved as the header was not on target. Aside from that, it was a strong performance for the former Udinese man.

Semi Ajayi 7/10: The Super Eagles defender had a very good game. He was solid in defense and hardly put a foot wrong. Ajayi was also brilliant in one-on-one situations.

Calvin Bassey 7/10: The Fulham star was very good in defence. His ball usage was questionable at times, but it was a very good game for him defensively.

Ola Aina 7/10: He was very solid and reliable for the Super Eagles. He had to play last man duties when Nigeria had corner kicks, and he did that brilliantly. He also provided a significant threat in the final third for Nigeria. His notorious throw-inside created a chance for the Super Eagles in the second half, but Lookman’s strike was saved.

Bruno Onyemaechi 7.3/10: The Boavista man was quite impressive, perhaps had his best game for Nigeria. His defending was great, and his attacking moves were also impressive as his crosses were majorly on point.

Wilfred Ndidi 7/10: Ndidi was tasked with protecting the backline, and he did it well. His connection with Dele-Bashiru was decent, and his errors were minimal.

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru 6.8/10: The Lazio star played in an unusual position, but he did it quite well. There were occasions when coach Augustine Eguavoen had to remind him about his position though. Unfortunately for him, he did not have a big impact in the final third due to role he had to play.

Samuel Chukwueze 6.5/10: The AC Milan man had a good showing, but he was largely ineffective. He had some dribbles in the first half, but he did not create much in the final third.

Victor Boniface 6.5/10: Boniface had a decent game for Nigeria. He had a few half chances in the first half, but he did not take them. His link-up with Lookman was also good.

Ademola Lookman 6.9/10: Lookman was Nigeria’s best attacker on the day, but he failed to deliver the goods. He forced two big saves from the goalkeeper, but that was all he could get.

Substitute

Victor Osimhen 6.5/10: The Galatasaray man was introduced to add some bite in the final third, but he did not get a lot of service as there often two men on him. Nonetheless, he put in the extra shift as usual, chasing down Rwandan players when he could.

Moses Simon 6.3/10: Simon was also decent, but he did not exactly do better than Chukwueze. He looked lively, but he failed to create any clear-cut opportunity.

Raphael Onyedika 6.4/: He had a decent showing in the game, but he did not have the chance to influence the game.

Frank Onyeka 6.7/10: The Super Eagles star was quite active upon his introduction. He looked very sharp and made some good tackles to win the ball.

The team played individual game but is not their fault at sll.
We still need a TA for the team as the head man is not capable and will fail us when the time comes.
