Reigning Belgian champions Club Brugge have slammed a €20 million (₦36.6 billion) price tag on Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika amid interest from Galatasaray, Soccernet.ng reports.
Onyedika, a product of FC Ebedei, the same academy that produced Paul Onuachu and Raphael Onyeka, has gained much traction in recent years.
The 23-year-old midfielder joined Belgian giants Club Brugge two years ago after an impressive season with Danish club FC Midtjylland. And since his move, he has been an integral part of Club Brugge’s setup.
Onyedika has registered four goals and three assists across 57 appearances for Club Brugge in all competitions.
His performances have attracted interest from abroad, and Galatasaray are interested in acquiring his services as they look to bolster their squad after winning the Turkish Süper Lig last season.
Recall that earlier, Soccernet.ng reported that the Turkish side had already agreed on personal terms with Onyedika. However, Club Brugge rejected their first bid of €5 million.
The Belgian kings have now made their stand known. According to Sacha Tavolieri, per BBO Sports, Club Brugge have informed potential suitors that they won’t accept anything less than €20 million for Onyedika.
This is a lot of money for any Turkish club as they do not make a lot of revenue. Also, Galatasaray have been quite active in the transfer market.
It is very unlikely that Galatasaray will pay up to that except they sell a player before the transfer window closes.
Meanwhile, Club Brugge still have the advantage, as Onyedika still has three years left on his current deal. Moreover, the Turkish transfer window closes today.
