New revelations have surfaced about Paris Saint-Germain’s unsuccessful pursuit of Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman, Soccernet.ng reports.
According to a report by Tutto Atalanta, the French giants were misled by Lookman’s representatives into believing they could secure the winger’s services for a fee between €20-25 million.
PSG, however, abandoned negotiation talks after Atalanta, Lookman’s current club, made it clear that their valuation was closer to €50 million.
Lookman, who had been keen on the move and had agreed on personal terms with PSG, even requested to be excluded from Atalanta’s Serie A opener against Lecce, signaling his readiness to depart.
Despite this, the transfer hit a snag when PSG, initially looking to replace the injured Gonçalo Ramos, balked at Atalanta’s significantly higher asking price.
Subsequent discussions between Atalanta’s management and Lookman’s representatives were reportedly positive, with both parties exploring the possibility of a contract extension. This would potentially include a salary adjustment for the 26-year-old forward.
However, the outcome remains uncertain as Atalanta might still consider selling Lookman if a substantial offer comes through.
Meanwhile, Lookman continues to attract interest from top Premier League clubs.
Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal are all reportedly monitoring his situation closely.
With PSG stepping back, the Premier League giants may be poised to make their moves before the summer transfer window closes.
Lookman, who is currently valued at €40 million by Transfermarkt, could command a fee as high as €60 million, given his recent form, including a hat-trick in the UEFA Europa League final.
