2024 UEFA Europa League winners Atalanta are set to take the next line of action concerning Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 27-year-old wanted to leave the Bergamo-based club before the transfer window slammed shut, and absconded from team training, alongside pre-season fixtures, in a bid to force a move that didn't eventually happen.
La Dea maintained their stance that they wouldn't sell Lookman to another Italian team, and since only Inter Milan were coming forward with a bid, the club didn't sell.
The CAF Player of the Year is now set to spend another year at the Gewiss Stadium and was left to train alone, just before the September International break.
Atalanta set to reintegrate Lookman
As per Gazetta.It, the Atalanta board are seriously considering reinstating the former Leicester forward into the first team after he was in action for the Super Eagles twice in the past week.
Lookman returned to Bergamo yesterday, and the club will evaluate whether he can be immediately available to Ivan Juric for the club's clash against Lecce on Sunday.
There will be no further disciplinary measures by the club upon his return. Lookman's return trip to Bergamo took about 16 hours from South Africa.
He hasn’t yet trained under the new Atalanta coach Juric, and it remains to be seen if he’ll be fit enough to complete an entire session today and be available for the upcoming Serie A game against Lecce on Sunday.
