Atalanta BC are not pleased with Ademola Lookman’s attitude after the Nigerian forward revealed his desire to join French giants PSG, Soccernet.ng reports.
PSG have emerged as the frontrunners for Lookman’s signature as the Ligue 1 champions look to rebuild an attack that lost Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid and surrendered Goncalo Ramos to injury.
While the Parisians have reportedly not made an official offer to Atalanta for their Nigerian import, they have reached contractual agreements with the 26-year-old winger.
Lookman has given his green light to a deal that will make him one of the highest-earning Nigerian footballers in Europe.
According to FootMercato, Lookman is putting pressure on Atalanta to be open to negotiations with PSG and force his departure from Bergamo.
It is believed that PSG’s interest in Lookman is one of the reasons why coach Gian Piero Gasperini left him out of Atalanta’s Serie A opener against Lecce.
While club boss Gasperini has kind things to say about Lookman, the higher authorities at the Atalanta are ‘disappointed and furious’ by Lookman’s attitude and desire to join PSG.
Atalanta can still frustrate Lookman’s move to PSG, though, as the Italians value the Super Eagles forward at €60 million, almost twice the amount the French giants are willing to pay for his services.
Lookman joined Atalanta for €9 million from Germany’s RB Leipzig in 2022 following an excellent loan spell at Leicester City.
The former Everton winger has seen his value skyrocket to more than four times that transfer fee after playing a crucial role in helping Atalanta win the Europa League last season – the club’s first continental triumph.
