Italian club Napoli are not in a haste to see the departure of Victor Osimhen as the potential transfer of the Nigerian striker remains clouded in uncertainty, Soccernet.ng reports.
Paris Saint-Germain have been leading the race to sign Osimhen in recent times but negotiations have stalled with the French club not meeting Napoli’s demands.
In the ideal situation, Napoli are ready to do business with any club ready to activate Osimhen’s €130 million release clause.
PSG, though, are not ready to cough out any amount more than €90 million for the Super Eagles forward who managed 17 goals and four assists across all competitions last season.
With the two clubs miles apart in the valuation of the 25-year-old attacker, transfer talks have been suspended while Osimhen has been fully committed to preseason preparations at Napoli.
Reports from the Italian media today suggest that Napoli’s President Aurelio di Laurentiis is not desperate to sanction the sale of Osimhen, who he considers one of the world’s top three centre-forwards at the moment.
The three-time Scudetto winners will wait the whole summer, if need be, and keep Osimhen beyond the transfer window if no club is willing to put an offer of more than €100 million on the table.
The situation at Napoli is even more serene as Osimhen has a contract until 2026 tying him to the club.
It however looks like a miscalculated gamble for Napoli owner Di Laurentiis, considering several clubs were more than ready to pay over €100 million for Osimhen last year.
The former Lille forward was the toast of all of Europe after hitting an African record 31 Serie A goals to help Napoli end a 33-year wait for the Scudetto triumph.
