“U-23 job is a propaganda” – Ex-Flying Eagles boss Ladan Bosso reacts

Former Abia Warriors manager Ladan Bosso led the Flying Eagles of Nigeria to their sixth Bronze medal in 2023

Former head coach of Nigeria’s U-20 men’s team, Ladan Bosso, has dismissed rumours about his promotion to the U-23 team, Soccernet.ng reports.

Speculation in the Nigerian media has suggested that the 56-year-old tactician is set to take on the role of head coach for the Olympic Eagles. However, Bosso has clarified that these reports are unfounded.

Speaking exclusively to Soccernet.ng, the Niger-born gaffer labeled the news of his appointment to the U-23 national team as mere propaganda.

Coach Bosso confirmed his new role as the manager of Nigeria Premier Football League side Bayelsa United, with an official unveiling expected soon.

“[The Nigeria] U-23 job is a propaganda. The Bayelsa United job is confirmed. I am waiting for the unveiling,” Bosso told Soccernet.ng.

Bosso, who previously managed Abia Warriors, has been in charge of the Flying Eagles since 2020. Under his leadership, the U-20 team secured their sixth Bronze medal at the Africa Cup of Nations youth tournament in 2023.

Following Nigeria’s quarter-final exit at the 2023 U-20 World Cup, Bosso stepped down from his role, prompting the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to search for a new head coach to fill the vacancy.

Currently, the NFF is also looking for new head coaches for the U-20, U-23, and Nigeria’s senior national team, all of which are without a head coach.
