Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen will return to Napoli for pre-season next week despite talks that he could leave the club this summer, Soccernet.ng reports.
Osimhen has been talismanic for Napoli in the last two years. The 25-year-old was key in their run to their Serie A title win two seasons ago. And last season, despite Napoli’s poor performance, the Nigerian star still produced 17 goals in 32 games. In total, Osimhen has registered 76 goals and 18 assists in 133 appearances for Napoli.
His performances have caught the eyes of many top clubs, with talks linking him with a transfer to Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Arsenal, and PSG. Osimhen has also attracted interest from Saudi Arabia, with Al Ahli reportedly interested in him. However, Napoli have been holding out for a mega fee until this summer.
Osimhen seems set to leave Naples this summer, but nothing concrete has come up yet. PSG, Arsenal, and Al Ahli look like the most likely destinations, but Napoli are yet to accept any offer.
In the meantime, Osimhen will have to resume at Napoli for pre-season under the new coach Antonio Conte. The Partenopeans resume camp at their Dimaro-Folgarida training ground on July 11, and Osimhen is expected to join in.
However, it is unlikely that he will start the campaign with Napoli
