Super Eagles and Bayer 04 Leverkusen striker, Victor Okoh Boniface, has revealed he’s not open to playing in the English Premier League, Soccernet.ng reports.
The 23-year-old scored 14 goals and provided nine assists across 23 games in the German Bundesliga, leading the line for Xabi Alonso’s men as they lifted their debut league title, in grand style, maintaining an unbeaten record, and becoming the first-ever German team to achieve such a feat.
Leverkusen also won the DFB Pokal, and reached the final of the UEFA Europa League, before Ademola Lookman daggered their dreams of a treble with a hat trick in May.
Boniface, who played a crucial part in Leverkusen’s success last season, scoring 21 goals and providing 10 assists across all competition for Die Werkself, gaining attention from some English Premier League sides, as earlier reported by Soccernet.ng.
Speaking in a recent interview, the former Union Saint-Gilloise was quizzed if he’d be open to playing in a more physical league like the English Premier League, but the striker revealed Germany is his comfort zone.
“No, I’m fine with the Bundesliga, as long as I’m winning the trophies there, I have no problem,” the Super Eagles forward said on the Curiosity made me ask show.
Victor Boniface missed out on the AFCON 2023 tournament with the Super Eagles due to an adductor injury. The groin problem kept him out of action for three months, before he returned to training in the late weeks of March.
