Former Barcelona star backs Victor Osimhen’s potential move to PSG

Former Barcelona and Sporting Lisbon winger Emmanuel Amuneke has backed Napoli forward Victor Osimhen’s possible transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, Soccernet.ng reports.

Amuneke believes that Osimhen’s return to France, where he previously played for Lille, would be beneficial for his career.

Recent reports indicate that PSG, the Ligue 1 champions, are working on a deal to sign Osimhen this summer. The Super Eagles striker’s contract includes a €130 million release clause.

Amuneke, who gave the 25-year-old his international debut at the U-17 level, is confident that a move to PSG will be good for Osimhen’s career.

He stated, as per ScoreNigeria: “PSG are a big team who play in the UEFA Champions League, it will be a welcome development if he moved there.

“To grow is a welcome development after he has done a lot for Napoli. He’s our star, he has to be playing and he knows what he wants.”

However, Osimhen’s transfer to PSG is not yet finalised.

The former Sporting Charleroi forward has agreed to join the Parisian club, who have been keen on signing him since 2023.

Despite this, Napoli have been reluctant to let him go on a cheap.

The dethroned Scudetto winners, who have not sold a player of his caliber for several years, are demanding a high price. The club is waiting for a substantial offer to part with their star forward, who has a €130 million release clause.

However, PSG are hesitant to pay this amount, and according to L’Équipe, Osimhen, eager to leave, may even consider stopping training to force the move.

Victor Osimhen has played 132 games for Napoli, scoring 76 goals. A move to PSG would see him return to France after his remarkable 2019-2020 season with Lille.
