Former Super Eagles striker Victor Anichebe has congratulated Wilfred Ndidi on signing a new contract at the club, Soccernet.ng reports.
Ndidi has been at Leicester City since 2017, when he joined from Belgian Jupiler Pro side Gent. The Super Eagles star has been an important member of the club since then, featuring prominently in most of their games.
However, his contract at the club expired last season, and he refused to pen down an extension despite the club’s multiple advances. It eventually dragged into the summer.
Meanwhile, there were links from different clubs in England and abroad. Everton, Aston Villa, and Turkish side Besiktas were reportedly interested in his services.
But eventually, the Foxes got Ndidi to sign a new three-year deal earlier this week. And he will be looking to play an integral role for them on their return to the Premier League next season.
Following Ndidi’s new deal, former Nigeria striker Anichebe congratulated him on social media. But the former Everton said he would have loved for Ndidi to join the Toffees instead.
Anichebe played for Everton from 2006 to 2013, making over 130 appearances for the club. But his time there was characterized with injuries. He made eleven appearances for Nigeria and scored one goal.
