Chippa United coach Sean Louw has stated that he does not believe Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali will play for the club next season, Soccernet.ng reports.
Nwabali joined Chippa United two seasons ago, and he has become an important member of the team. Last season, the 27-year-old shot-stopper registered 26 appearances for Chippa United and kept eleven clean sheets.
The former Enyimba goalkeeper rose to recognition this year, when Jose Peseiro 8nvited him to the Super Eagles camp for the Africa Cup of Nations. Nwabali turned out to be the first-choice goalkeeper. He proved his worth with four clean sheets and two penalty saves in the run-up to Nigeria’s second-place finish.
Following his impressive performances for Chippa United, there have been talks that Nwabali could leave the club amid interest from Kaizer Chiefs, Al Ettifaq, and QPR.
The regular South Africa Premier League season ended two weeks ago, but Nwabali still has two years left on his current deal. However, it appears Nwabali may not return to Chippa United next season.
According to Chippa United coach Louw, Nwabali has offers from around ten clubs, and he doubts that the Nigerian goalkeeper will return to the club next season.
“On physical hard copy paper, I don’t know how many offers he has received. But verbally, he has around 10 or even 12 offers. He is definitely not coming back to Chippa next season,” Louw told South African news outlet FARPost.
It is likely that Nwabali will favour a move to Europe instead of another South African club or the middle east. In the coming weeks, Nwabali will be looking to sort out his future.
