Super Eagles sensation William Troost-Ekong is set to officially launch his charity foundation this weekend, Soccernet.ng reports.
The PAOK FC player has regained fitness and returned to training, after being sidelined due to an injury sustained at the 2023 AFCON tournament.
Troost-Ekong recently arrived in Lagos, Nigeria ahead of the official launch of the Troost Ekong Foundation. He shared the exciting update on his Instagram stories.
To mark the foundation’s official launch, Troost-Ekong will host a charity match at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in his home state, Akwa Ibom, on June 2. Several football legends and players, including Daniel Amokachi, Vincent Enyeama and Ahmed Musa will be participating in the event. Celebrities and entertainers like Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Falz and Odumodublvck will also be in attendance.
The Super Eagles captain has been actively promoting the cause, conducting media rounds at various radio stations to raise awareness for his foundation. He was also seen at the Nigerian store of international sportswear brand Puma.
Although Troost-Ekong might be fit to play again, the Nigerian forward will not be joining the Super Eagles for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin, as he was not included in head coach Finidi’s George’s 23-man squad list.
