Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze provided an assist, but his effort was insufficient as AC Milan were forced to a dramatic 3-3 draw against Genoa at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium, Soccernet.ng reports.
Chukwueze got a rare starting shirt when AC Milan welcomed Genoa to the Giuseppe in their 35th game of the season. The Rossoneri were huge favourites to win the tie, and it was evident from the lineup because coach Stefano Pioli opted for an ultra-attacking setup, with Christian Pulisic, Rafael Leao, Olivier Giroud, and Chukwueze all on the pitch at the same time.
Unfortunately for the Rossoneri, they fell behind after a goal from Mateo Retegui in the 5th minute. However, Milan pulled one back in the 45th minute via Alessandro Florenzi header, off a beautiful cross from Chukwueze.
AC Milan were expected to take over the second half and seal the victory, but they performed expectation. Three minutes into the second half, Genoa took the lead again through Caleb Ekuban. Five minutes later, Chukwueze, who was having a good performance on the right side of attack, thought he had given AC Milan the lead, but the goal was disallowed due to offside.
Nonetheless, the Rossoneri got their equalizer through Matteo Gabbia in the 72nd minute. Then, three minutes later, Giroud scored again to give AC Milan their first lead.
Six minutes after Giroud scored, Osimhen was taken off after a brilliant performance that saw him record 42 touches, five key passes, and three performances.
Unfortunately for the Rossoneri, they could not see out their lead, as an 87th-minute own goal from Malick Thiaw ensured it ended 3-3 after 90 minutes.
