AFCON 2023: Super Eagles camp update – OGC Nice’s Terem Moffi arrives in Cote d’Ivoire as Iheanacho completes full training

Head coach Jose Peseiro now has the full complement of players he invited for the continental championship following the arrival of the France-based forward

OGC Nice forward Terem Moffi has joined his Super Eagles teammates in Abidjan, where Nigeria is based for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Soccernet.ng reports.

Moffi was not named in Nigeria's final 25-man squad for the AFCON, but the former Lorient star was later called up to replace injured Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface.

OGC Nice, however, did not let Moffi leave France at once and the 23-year-old featured in the club's 2-0 Ligue 1 loss at Rennes in their matchday 18 fixture on Saturday.

Moffi only arrived in Cote d'Ivoire on Monday, a few hours after Nigeria wobbled to a disappointing 1-1 draw with Equatorial Guinea.

The striker partake in his first training with the Super Eagles on Tuesday as the team prepares to take on hosts Cote d'Ivoire on Thursday.

Also involved in the Super Eagles' training from start to finish was Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho.

Iheanacho appears to have overcome the injury that kept him from the Super Eagles training camp in Abu Dhabi and Nigeria's opening match against the National Thunder.

The former Manchester City star will look to be fit to provide the clinical cutting edge that the Super Eagles lacked against Equatorial Guinea.

Cote d'Ivoire won their first match at the AFCON, as they registered an impressive 2-0 victory over Guinea-Bissau to seize control of Group A.

Another win over Nigeria will hand the Elephants a direct ticket to the second round of the competition.

A defeat to the hosts, however, could leave the Super Eagles on the brink of elimination, with Jose Peseiro's men currently in possession of a single point.

The two teams meet on Thursday, January 18.

super eagles must avoid that slow-play tactics employed in their first match.they must have watched the fast pace of other national teams. should they lose their next match, the team, officials be disbanded.
