Terem Moffi and Onyedika both score, but Frankfurt win 3-1

Super Eagles forward Terem Moffi and midfielder Raphael Onyedika both scored in the Bundesliga on Sunday, but Eintracht Frankfurt beat Hamburg 3-1 at Deutsche Bank Park.

Moffi levelled for Hamburg in the 14th minute, his second goal of the season in his eighth league appearance. Onyedika then put Frankfurt 2-1 up early in the second half, his first goal of the campaign, also in his eighth appearance.

Two Eagles on opposite sides

It was an unusual afternoon for Nigerian fans: two Super Eagles internationals found the net in the same game for opposing clubs, as Complete Sports reported in its Bundesliga round-up.

Analysis: Why the goals matter for Chelle's squad

Coach Eric Chelle has yet to name his group for the Tanzania double-header, and our piece on why six points from Tanzania set up a March decider shows how much those games matter. Goals from a striker and a midfielder in the same match are the kind of evidence a selector notices.

Moffi's goal came in defeat, but it still lifts his season tally to two in eight league games. Onyedika's first goal of the season shows he can arrive in the box as well as screen the defence, and both will hope the afternoon strengthens their case.
