The Nottingham Forest star has been one of the most outstanding Nigerian players in Cote d’Ivoire for the continental championships
Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has named AC Milan ace Samuel Chukwueze the most skilful player in the Nigerian squad at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Soccernet.ng reports.
Nigeria coach Jose Peseiro has several talented forwards at his disposal as the Super Eagles continue their quest for a fourth AFCON trophy.
Victor Osimhen, the reigning African Footballer of the Year, has been arguably Nigeria’s most influential footballer at the AFCON.
Ademola Lookman netted the two goals that engineered Cameroon’s 2-0 Round of 16 defeat, powering Nigeria to the quarterfinals of Africa’s biggest football event.
Moses Simon was Nigeria’s most outstanding star at the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon, and he has put in some dynamic displays this time.
Alex Iwobi has been Nigeria’s number-one creative outlet in midfield, with the Fulham man always looking to cause the opposition with his movement, touches, and passes in the final third.
Still, Aina believes none of these players, himself included, are as skillful as AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze.
In a chat monitored by Soccernet.ng after training today, Aina was asked if he was the most talented player in the Super Eagles squad.
The former Torino fullback simply responded, “I don’t know. I don’t think so”.
When prodded further on who was the most skilful player, Aina added, “Samuel Chukwueze. Yeah, I think it’s Samuel.”
Interestingly, Chukwueze has featured in three of Nigeria’s four games at the AFCON, starting in the wins over Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea-Bissau.
The former Villarreal winger, however, did not make it off the bench as the Super Eagles produced an excellent showing to carve out a 2-0 win over Cameroon in the Round of 16.
Chuchueze is a very selfish player. he came to afcon with a selfish aim to outshine Oshimen and lookman. He would rather give the ball to the opponent than his team mate to score. I prayed against him for lookman to play. Away with chuchueze to his AC Milan. Super Eagles don’t need him. Ola Aina is good, but don’t buy that nonsense manipulative moves of chuchueze. Chuchueze is a waster , not a good team mate. if they had played this guy against Cameron, Nigeria would have not won that match.
Wow man… that’s not true how can u say he’d rather give the ball away than to pass it too osimhen or lookman… for me chukwueze is a selfless player just that as a winger u certainly need to have more possession and handle the ball more often…. To cut through a defence that’s why u need to be skillful and make those runs with the ball more often than others to create a goal scoring opportunity
Soo we get u’re not a chukwueze fan … but ur criticism is just way too far and baseless!!
This is not about criticism but stating the fact, he’s been so selfish in this tournament… in as much as Osihmen haven’t scored more than expected he’s still super active but for Chukwueze it’s a no no for me. Although am not disputing the fact that O. Aina chose him as d most skillful but not actively involved with the team #simple
You are very right o my brother. it’s because of this your comment I opened this write up.
Samuel Chukwueze is a selfish and one way traffic player. A winger supposed to always look up to pass or lift ball to his team mate. Not to always dribble into the 18 yard and waste chances like Chukwueze used to do. He should go and watch Saka of Arsenal to know how a left footer winger helps his team to win. Samuel Chukwueze is still playing like a child. he needs to grow up and be a team player with the urge to creating chances to win not to shine. Not only the scorers are recognized in a team, a good assist is also recognized. Thanks
Chukwueze plays a secondary school ball. Too selfish. He’s not needed in this team until he matures. Simon Moses too.
Chukwueze has no been effective in this afcon and its easy to see why. As a winger its not all about dribbling past your opponent. African defenders are more rugged than European defenders, so you need to be technical. Both him and Simon keep trying to beat their man but that is not always the best option. Sometimes simple pass is what you need to do. The wingers haven’t done a good job in this afcon. Its mostly the wing-backs that have shown the brightest with Aina in particular. We really miss Boniface at this Afcon. With an attacking Trio of Boniface, Osimhen and lookman there wont be any need for wingers, our wing-backs would provide the much needed wing play we need. Also, we might need to get a good left full back because zaidu isn’t as effective as Aina. He doesn’t complement the team on the left. Calvin can do the job very well but he is needed at the back and the new guy isn’t experienced enough. So after the Afcon lets see what the coach comes up with. As for the wingers position, there are other players who can challenge for a spot, players like yira sir, Nathan tells, ishak Abdulrasaq but lets wish the team all the best as they continue on their quest.
it’s simple, you don’t like Chukwueze . But it’s fine, I remember him giving Osimhen a wonderful assist which Osimhen squandered. in truth I would pick Chukwueze over Simon Moses. but unfortunately, they don’t play the same position. You should also know that Nigeria won every game Chukwueze was fielded.
Yeah i just wish the very best…up eagles all the way!

Stop taking it too personal that player samuel chukwueze is the most outstanding skillful player in that team team all his body move ment are possibilities. mark my word u can never have chukwueze in a match and loose never. And he is not a selfish player,, he only sees opportunities and go for it when he loose the ball he goes back and gets it again
I have always seen Victor osimhen close to chukwueze please let them have peace Mr olusonya ajayi
You very correct, chukwueze and moses Simon are very skillful, but they too selfish with the ball. We still need them.
