Nice reported that Moffi sustained a hamstring injury just days ago, but he shockingly returned to action on Wednesday and proved to be the hero
Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi got off the bench to net a brace for Nice in their hard-fought 2-0 win over Lens at the Allianz Riviera, Soccernet.ng reports.
In Nice’s last game against Le Havre, Moffi did not play, and the club later revealed that he was sidelined with a hamstring injury, which could rule him out of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in January.
However, in a surprising development, the Super Eagles star was on the bench for Les Aiglons when they welcomed Lens.
Les Aiglons have been in great form this season, but Lens held them throughout the first half. Then, coach Francesco Farioli decided to introduce Moffi into the game in the 73rd minute. The Super Eagles star needed just three minutes to make his impact felt as he scored from the spot to put his side in front.
Then, in the 78th minute, Moffi showed his ability again as he rose to meet a cross from Jeremie Boga and headed in to make it 2-0.
In the end, Moffi’s goals proved to be the decider, as Nice won the game 2-0.
