Samuel Chukwueze featured for Nigeria in their friendly draw against Saudi Arabia but couldn’t play ninety minutes due to a hamstring injury.
Super Eagles right-winger, Samuel Chukwueze, has returned to A.C. Milan’s training early after leaving Nigeria’s training camp in Portugal injured, Soccernet.ng reports.
The ex-Villareal winger was subbed off after sixty minutes in Nigeria’s 2-2 draw against Saudi Arabia and upon further checks, it was confirmed that the 24-year-old had picked up a hamstring injury.
The injury kept him out of the Super Eagles’ 3-2 win against Mozambique, and according to the club’s official website, Chukwueze is already back at Milanello. The remaining players who didn’t go on international break also continued with gym work and completed strength circuits.
The players then continued to activate their muscles out on the pitch, working without the ball. It was then time to perform agility exercises with the ball and speed tests. The rest of the Rossoneri’s internationals will return within the next two days to begin preparing for the crucial match against Juventus on Sunday night at the San Siro.
The extent of Chukwueze’s injury is not mentioned nor is it specified if there will be any further checks or a recovery period, with fans in Nigeria hoping the injury wouldn’t keep him out of action for a long while.
Since joining from Villareal, Chukwueze has played ten games for Milan but is yet to score a single goal, although he has mostly played second-fiddle to in-form Christian Pulisic.
