Napoli risk selling Osimhen for cut-price- Transfer guru

The Super Eagles striker has been the subject of numerous talks since last week because of a video that put him in a bad light

Transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio has stated that Osimhen would be reluctant to sign a contract extension at Napoli following the viral video that was posted on the club’s official TitkTok handle, Soccernet reports.

Last weekend, Osimhen missed a penalty in Napoli’s goalless draw at Bologna. Two days later, Napoli posted a video that was mocking the 24-year-old striker. However, the video was later deleted.

This issue has sparked much controversy, as Osimhen was happy with it. He even deleted most of the Napoli-related content on his Instagram page.

Napoli have issued a statement on the issue, and they made it clear that they never intended any harm to the Super Eagles striker; rather, they consider him very valuable.

Despite the apology, the relationship between Napoli and Osimhen may never remain the same. This could be bad for the club because they want him to sign a new contract.

According to transfer guru Di Marzio, the TikTok issue is a significant roadblock, and Napoli have to find a way to deal with it.

“The contract renewal is now in a stand-by phase. The parties are no longer talking about the renewal, which should instead be dealt with by Napoli,” Di Marzio told Sky per Napoli Magazine.

“The TikTok issue was an accident, but it was not an intentional mistake. I think it had an impact on the non-renewal, also because he was a great professional on the pitch.”

If Napoli fail to get Osimhen to pen a new deal soon, they will be forced to sell him next summer because he will have just one year left on his contract.

With a year left on the Nigerian’s contract, Napoli will not be at the vantage point during negotiations. That is a situation that club President Aurelio De Laurentiis would dread.
