Enyimba recently scooped their ninth Nigeria Professional League title under the guidance of former Ajax star, Finidi George
Criticism has been directed at Enyimba chairman and former Ajax player, Nwankwo Kanu, following the club’s lackluster performance in their recent game, Soccernet.ng reports.
The reigning NPFL champions commenced their quarter-final match in the inaugural African Football League against Wydad Athletic Club Casablanca.
However, a costly error by Super Eagles’ goalkeeper Olorunleke Ojo resulted in a penalty for the away side, which ultimately became the sole goal of the game.
Enyimba had opportunities to secure victory but were astonishingly wasteful, managing just one shot on target out of twenty attempts. To compound matters, the team encountered a peculiar problem – they lacked a complete set of jerseys.
Innocent, one of the team’s players, had his name and jersey number handwritten on his shirt, rather than the standard printed version.
The reason for this unusual occurrence remains a mystery, but fans on social media have expressed their dismay at the lack of professionalism exhibited by the club and its chairman.

This incident is particularly surprising given that the winners of last season’s league were presented with a one hundred million naira cash prize, which should have eased any potential financial difficulties the club might have faced.
