NPFL champions Enyimba beat Liverpool, AC Milan to the signing of Real Madrid-loving wonderkid

The reigning NPFL kings have beaten top European teams to the signature of the talented youngster

Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions Enyimba have secured the signing of rising star Daniel Daga on a season-long loan deal, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 16-year-old midfielder, who made waves with his performances for the Flying Eagles, completed his move from Nigeria National League outfit FC One Rocket.

Daga’s emergence onto the football scene gained momentum during the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina, where he stood out as one of Nigeria’s top talents.

He earned recognition as the youngest player to be selected for Nigeria’s U20 squad, a testament to his promising abilities.

Throughout the tournament, he consistently showcased his talent by starting in every game until Nigeria’s disappointing exit in the quarterfinals at the hands of South Korea.

Daga after that garnered significant attention from prominent European clubs, including AC Milan, Liverpool, Anderlecht, Watford, Club Brugge, and Midtjylland in Denmark.

However, a crucial stipulation has prevented him from joining any foreign club until he reaches the age of 18.

Consequently, Enyimba moved swiftly to secure his signature, fending off competition from other interested parties.

Highly ambitious, Daga has set his sights on playing for the biggest clubs in the world, top of which is Real Madrid.

“In two years, I’ll be playing at the top like Osimhen,” he told NigeriaInfo earlier in the year.

“I want to see myself playing at Real Madrid, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd; play in the Champions League; play in the FA Cup, win the FA Cup and win Champions League in the next five years.”

Daga’s agreement with Enyimba is structured as a year-long loan deal, with the potential for a permanent transfer if all parties involved express interest.

Last season, the midfielder had a loan spell with Dakkada FC, although he struggled to make an impact due to injury and international commitments.

Enyimba are poised to participate in the upcoming inaugural African Football League, and the two-time CAF Champions League winners now boast the addition of one of Nigeria’s most exciting talents to their roster.

The Aba Elephants are set to face Morocco’s Wydad Athletic Club in the quarter-finals of the AFL next month.
