The Nigerian forward is Africa's most valuable player and the number-one striker in Serie A
Super Eagles head coach José Peseiro believes Napoli's striker Victor Osimhen will end up at one of the biggest clubs in the world, Soccernet.ng reports.
Osimhen was expected to leave Napoli in the summer after enjoying the most productive season of his career, the highlight of which was a Scudetto triumph.
But despite reported interest from PSG, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, and even Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal, Osimhen stayed in Naples.
But Osimhen's relationship with Napoli has weakened over the past few days after an ugly Tiktok episode that cast the Nigerian forward in a bad light and for which the club refused to apologise.
With Napoli yet to get Osimhen to extend his contract, the former Lille forward could leave the club in one of the two coming transfer windows.
While the Premier League is Osimhen's dream destination, La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid, as well as French champions PSG, have the resources to sign the 24-year-old.
Peseiro has no doubt that Osimhen has the quality to star at any of the world's biggest clubs.
“The certainty I have is that in the end Osimhen will be in one of the best teams in Europe. He can play for any top team: Madrid, Bayern, United, City,” Peseiro said in an interview with AS, as per French Football Weekly.
Peseiro also believes Osimhen is one of the players who will succeed Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi when the two greats exit the scene.
Ronaldo and Messi have been the two greatest players of the last twenty years and probably in the game's history, but both are in their 30s and seeing out the latter days of their careers in Saudi Arabia and the United States.
Many have tipped Manchester City's Erling Haaland and PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe as two likely players to take over from Ronaldo and Messi.
For Peseiro, though, Osimhen is ahead of Mbappe in the race for who takes the baton from Ronaldo and Messi.
When the Portuguese coach was asked whether Osimhen could succeed Messi and Ronaldo, he said: “Why not? If he gets into his head… We don’t know.
“He has different characteristics, for example, from those of Mbappé. We don’t know who will be better after Cristiano and Messi finish their fight. Someone will be. Osimhen can fight for that.”
Peseiro clearly explained why he is convinced that Odimhen is a world-class attacker.
“He is a star, because of his ability to score goals, to fight, to press,” Peseiro said.
“He is a very strong player offensively. He puts a lot of pressure on the defenders. He has vigour, aggression, speed, power and he has a goal. He’s obsessed with scoring goals.”
Osimhen scored 31 goals in all competitions for Napoli last season and has already netted five goals in Serie A this term.
