Iwobi just joined the Cottagers, and he is looking to make a mark
Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has stated that he wants to make memories at Craven Cottage just like Nigeria legend Austin Jay-Jay Okocha, Soccernet reports.
Okocha is one of the most skilled dribblers ever to grace the football pitch. His ability to wriggle past challenges and glide through defenders was remarkable.
The former Nigeria midfielder played for English clubs Bolton and Hull City during his career, but he shone more at Bolton. Okocha registered 18 goals and eight assists in 145 appearances for the former Premier League club.
The 50-year-old played against Fulham nine times, and four of those games were at Craven Cottage.
Fulham just signed Iwobi from Everton last week in a deal worth €22million. The Super Eagles star is Jay-Jay Okocha’s nephew, and he has said he wants to create memories at Craven Cottage just like his uncle.
“I’ve had memories of my uncle playing at Craven Cottage, so hopefully, I’m able to do that on a regular basis,” Iwobi told Fulham TV.
“I’ve watched him several times at Craven Cottage, so I’ve had great memories there. Hopefully, I can create more memories with me playing at Craven Cottage.”
Iwobi is nursing a hamstring injury, but he should be back in action after the break. He could make his debut for Fulham when they welcome Luton Town on the 16th of September.
I’m Fulham born & will be visiting Craven Cottage for the first time in 65 years in October. Hoping that Alex will give me memories to match the good old days of Johnny H, Graham L, George C and my favourite goalie of that era, Tony Macedo.
You forgot Eddie Lowe and Tosh Chamberlain !
