Two Nigerians were involved in the game, but one came out on top
Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu nicked a goal and an assist, but Fisayo Dele-Bashiru scored late for Hatayspor to guide them to an interesting 3-2 victory over the former Super Lig champions, Soccernet reports.
Onuachu scored on his debut for Trabzonspor in their 3-0 bashing of Besiktas, and he was looking to continue with that form when they visited Mersin Stadyumu to take on Hatayspor. Meanwhile, Dele-Bashiru started for the home side.
The first half was pretty square, with just six goal attempts from both teams. But Trabzonspor finally got in front in the 44th minute, and Onuachu had a hand in it.
The Nigeria striker got on the end of a cross and just cushioned it downward with his head for Edin Visca, who sent a nice shot into Hatayspor’s net. Trabzonspor managed to take their lead into the break, but the second half witnessed a lot of action.
Trabzonspor scored again in the 62nd minute. He showed his striker’s instinct, latching on to a loose ball in the box and smacking it home from close range to make it 2-0. The big Super Eagles striker was taken off for Enis Destan in the 68th minute.
Four minutes later, Hatayspor pulled one back through Rigoberto Rivas off an assist from Dele-Bashiru. Then, in the 88th minute, Didier Lamkel Ze equalised for the home side.
It looked like it would end in a draw, but Dele-Bashiru had other ideas. Hatayspor went on a quick counter with The Nigerian attacking midfielder. He then drove into the box, cut in, and sent a nice curler into the next to make it 3-2 for Hatayspor
That was virtually the end of the game, and it sealed the 3-2 victory for Hatayspor. Onuachu now has three goal involvements in two games for the home side. Dele-Bashiru, on the other hand, now has four goals and one assist in two games for Hatayspor.
