The Nigeria international was a constant thorn in the flesh of the Bavarians as he helped his team to a fine point away from home
Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano is full of praises for Victor Boniface after the Nigerian striker helped Bayer Leverkusen claim a 2-2 draw at the Allianz Arena on Friday night, Soccernet.ng reports.
Upamecano had a nightmarish time defending against Boniface who gave another brilliant performance despite not scoring a goal.
Boniface had eight shots, two of which were blocked and completed four of his six attempted dribbles.
The 22-year-old striker had a goal ruled out for offside in the first half and nearly scored a world-class goal after his shot from beyond the halfway line just narrowly missed target with the Bayern keeper stranded.
Upamecano was troubled all through and the French defender heaved a sigh of relief at the sight of Boniface when the referee blew the final whistle.
After the encounter, Upamecano was quick to swap jerseys with the Super Eagles striker and told Sport 1: “(Boniface is) a great striker. Fast, big, strong – it was a lot of fun playing against him.”
Boniface has made perfect first impression since joining Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.
In only his first month in Germany, the former Union Saint-Gilloise forward has won the Rookie and Bundesliga Player of the Month awards and made his Super Eagles debut.
