“A great player”– Former Liverpool star hails Super Eagles’ Victor Boniface

Victor Boniface recently beat Erling Haaland’s record after scooping the Bundesliga Player Of The Month and Rookie Award

Former Liverpool and Real Madrid star, Xabi Alonso, has heaped praise on Victor Boniface, who recently received a Super Eagles call-up, ahead of Bayer Leverkusen’s clash with Bayern Munich, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 22-year-old striker made a significant move to the Red and Blacks from Union SG for a fee of approximately €20 million and has swiftly established himself as a formidable presence in the German Bundesliga.

In his three Bundesliga appearances, the Nigerian talent has impressively scored four goals and provided two assists.

His remarkable performances have earned accolades, including the league’s Player of the Month and Rookie awards, along with a call-up to the Nigerian national team, where he made an immediate impact by providing an assist.

As Bayer Leverkusen prepares for their fixture against German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich,Alonso, the club’s coach, has singled out Boniface for praise and expressed his delight in having the young talent in the squad.

“He’s a great player, a special player. He’s a striker, but he’s not selfish; he’s generous. We are really happy to have him here,” Alonso commented.

The one-capped Super Eagles forward recently outshone renowned players like Harry Kane and Jonas Wind to secure the Bundesliga award.
