Watch: South Sudan U-20 star Joseph Loro spotted in Lagos ahead of transfer deal with Sporting Lagos

Joseph Loro captained the South Sudan U-20 side in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations U-20 tournament held in Egypt in March

South Sudan’s rising star, Joseph Loro, an under-20 midfielder, has made his presence known in Lagos, signaling his imminent move to join the recently promoted Nigeria Professional Football League side, Sporting Lagos, Soccernet.ng reports.

Loro, who celebrated his 19th birthday just last month, had attracted the attention of both Lagos-based club Sporting Lagos and Austrian Bundesliga outfit RB Salzburg, setting the stage for a competitive battle for his signature.

The latest updates received by Soccernet.ng indicate that the talented defensive midfielder, born in 2004, is on the verge of finalizing a one-year deal with Sporting Lagos.

Sporting Lagos recently secured promotion to the top-tier Nigerian League after only two seasons since its inception, and they have already made a mark in the ongoing Naija Super 8 tournament by defeating Remo Stars.

Sporting Lagos has identified Loro as a key addition to fortify their squad for the upcoming season. The club’s hopes are pinned on his performances, with aspirations of potentially facilitating a move to Denmark, where he could join Aarhus Fremad.

The agreement between Loro and Sporting Lagos had reportedly been concluded several weeks ago; however, it was delayed due to the passing of his uncle, which required his attention and respect.

Following his anticipated arrival in Lagos on Monday, Loro paid a visit to Sporting Lagos and observed their training session. He is now accommodated at their camp in Surulere.

Meanwhile, in accordance with the customary practice for young players, Loro is poised to commence his training with the team today.

Loro, born in 2004, is a gifted defensive midfielder who has notched up an impressive nine international caps for his country, in addition to scoring two goals.

Having commenced his career at South Sudan’s Munuki SCSC in 2001, Loro is primed to continue his impressive performance as he prepares to don the colours of Sporting Lagos.
