Newly promoted NPFL side Sporting Lagos to tackle RB Salzburg for South Sudan U-20 wonderkid

Sporting Lagos have been impressive of late, finding their way to the NPFL division after two years of creation, and recently stunning Remo Stars at the ongoing Naija Super 8

Newly Promoted Nigeria Professional League side, Sporting Lagos, are reportedly set to tackle, FC Red Bull Salzburg, for the signature of South Sudan’s U20 starlet, Joseph Loro, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 19-year-old impressed with his performances for Peter James’s side at the 2023 under-20 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, guiding the team to the quarterfinals of the event.

Sources told Soccernet.ng that his performance at the international youth competition has, however, piqued the interest of Sporting Lagos, and the Austrian Bundesliga side, who will go head-to-head for his service.

Sporting Lagos recently gained promotion to the Nigerian League top-flight after just two seasons of creation. They have already made an impact in the ongoing Naija Super 8 by defeating Remo Stars.

In their quest to strengthen the squad for the upcoming season, Sporting Lagos is eyeing Loro as a valuable addition. The club hopes that his performances will be impressive enough to warrant a move to Denmark, where he could potentially join Aarhus Fremad.

Loro, born in 2004, is a talented defensive midfielder who has earned nine caps for his country and scored two goals. He started his career at South Sudan league club, Munuki SCSC, in 2001 and is currently a free agent as reports suggest his contract has expired.

While there has been no official statement from either club or the player himself, fans eagerly await the development of the transaction in the coming days.
