Victor Osimhen has been recently linked with a move to Saudi Arabia following two offers for the Nigerian striker rejected by Napoli
Napoli forward Victor Osimhen was forced to leave training early on Tuesday due to a sprain to his right ankle, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Nigerian came off the pitch following a collision with a new signing Natan in a practice match.
Osimhen left the pitch visibly in pain, with an ice pack applied to his right ankle. His condition will be evaluated today or tomorrow, with the club hoping his injury is not a serious one, as the start of a new Serie A season is just under two weeks away.
Italian reporter, Gianluca Di Marzio revealed on his Twitter handle that the Super Eagles striker might not be available to play a part in Napoli’s opening game of the Serie A season away at Frosinone on 19 August.
The 24-year-old, who finished last campaign as the club’s top scorer with 31 goals, has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia this summer.
Al-Hilal have reportedly made two big offers to Napoli for Osimhen, looking to lure him away from the club just a few months after leading them to their first title in 33 years.
The Blue Waves recently showed interest in Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe but the Frenchman is not keen on the move.
Al-Hilal have now switched their focus to Osimhen following Mbappe’s refusal to open negotiations. The offers for the Nigerian were rejected by Napoli who value him at £200m.
Osimhen was the star in Napoli’s Scudetto win last season, scoring 26 goals, as they claimed their first title in over three decades.
