Aina missed Forest’s victory over Sheffield United on Friday, and he may be out for a while
Nottingham Forest coach Steve Cooper has stated that Super Eagles defender Ola Aina may not be fit enough for their Premier League fixture against Manchester United next weekend, Soccernet reports.
After an impressive debut performance against Arsenal, Aina was conspicuously missing from Forest’s lineup in their game against newly-promoted Sheffield United at the City Ground.
Earlier, the 26-year-old defender shared his enthusiasm to play at the City Ground for the first time, but that did not happen.
However, his absence was not felt, as the Tricky Trees claimed a tough 2-1 victory over the visiting Blades.
Speaking on Aina’s absence, coach Cooper has revealed that the Nigerian is suffering from a thigh injury and could be on the sidelines for a while.
“He[Aina] tweaked his groin in training a couple of days ago, we did everything we could to get him fit, but he didn’t quite make it,” Cooper said per Nottingham Post.
“It’s not serious. We’ll see for next week or maybe the cup game[against Burnley] after that. It’s nothing too serious, but it will rule him out for a little bit.
Nottingham Forest have a decent replacement in Neco Williams, but Cooper would hope his Nigerian star recovers fast enough.
