Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi have featured in Leicester City’s two games this new season following weeks of speculations linking them with a move from the club.
Super Eagles duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi scored for Leicester City, who claimed a 2-0 victory over third-tier side Burton Albion in the first round of the EFL Cup at the Pirelli Stadium on Wednesday, Soccernet.ng reports.
The game was their second appearance for Leicester City this season after they featured in the club’s 2-1 victory over Coventry City in the opening game of the Championship season at the King Power Stadium last Sunday afternoon.
Iheanacho gave the Foxes the lead six minutes into the game, finishing from close range after reacting first to a pass in the middle of the six-yard box played from the right by Marc Albrighton.
On the stroke of halftime, Iheanacho turned into the provider, the 26-year-old was set clear wide left and dribbled into the box. Waited for a defender to commit himself then squared to Ndidi, who fired home the first time.
It was the first time both Nigerian players will score and also assisted each other in a game for Leicester City, who made it two wins from two games this season.
Their situation at the King Power Stadium stays unclear whether they will both remain at the club before the end of the transfer window. They have been heavily linked with a move from Leceister City after the club was relegated from the Premier League last season.
It was reported earlier in the week that Ndidi has been in contact with representatives from Turkey over a £8m move to Fenerbahce.
