Balogun just left QPR after a one-year spell, and he has returned to his former employers
Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun has officially joined 55-time Scottish Premiership champions Rangers, Soccernet reports.
The Super Eagles star won his first professional football trophies at Rangers. He joined the club in 2020 after a failed stint at English Premier League side Brighton.
Balogun was part of a wonderful two-year run at Rangers that saw them beat Celtic to the Premiership title, the Scottish Cup, and the Europa League final.
However, the club let him go last summer at the expiration of his contract. He joined QPR last season, making 16 appearances for the club in all competitions. But he said goodbye to them earlier as he did not extend his stay there.
The 35-year-old midfielder has not spent long in the employment market, as Rangers have confirmed that Balogun has joined them on a one-year contract.
Balogun is a contingency plan for the Gers, as their first-choice centre-back Leon King sustained an ankle injury. He worked with Rangers boss Michael Beale last season while the former was at QPR, so the transfer is not much of a surprise.
Balogun becomes the seventh signing at the club, and he joins Super Eagles teammate Cyriel Dessers.
Rangers will have a long season, as they will play continental football and domestic commitments.
