Napoli’s head coach, Rudi Garcia has acknowledged the possibility of Victor Osimhen leaving the club before the summer transfer window closes, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Nigerian striker has attracted attention from several top European clubs, including Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, PSG, and Manchester United.
However, Napoli are unwilling to let their Serie A top scorer go easily. Club President Aurelio De Laurentiis has set a staggering asking price of €200 million for the Super Eagles striker’s departure.
Despite the widespread interest, Napoli is eager to retain Osimhen’s services to help secure consecutive Scudetto victories. The player himself is also keen to stay in Naples for at least another year, giving his agents the green light to negotiate a contract extension with the club.
During preseason training, the 24-year-old Osimhen has already showcased his goal-scoring prowess, netting a sensational goal for Napoli.
Nevertheless, PSG remains a formidable contender for his signature, given their financial strength and with uncertainties surrounding star forward Kylian Mbappe’s future.
Addressing the ongoing speculation linking Osimhen to PSG, Coach Garcia expressed his desire for the striker to stay at Napoli.
However, he acknowledged the unpredictable nature of football, stating (as per Tutto Napoli), “I hope he (Osimhen) stays in Naples. He’s under contract and everyone is calm, but never say never in football. I’m confident and he wants to stay.”
With an impressive record of 26 goals in Serie A last season, Osimhen currently holds the title of the league’s most valuable player, boasting a market value of €120 million.
