The Super Eagles defender has been out of contract since the start of June, but he is set to sign a new deal
Super Eagles defender Ola Aina is close to sealing a deal with Premier League side Nottingham Forest, Soccernet reports.
The former Chelsea defender has been out of contract since his deal at Serie A club Torino expired at the end of June. Even before the expiration of his contract at Torino, there have been talks that the 26-year-old defender prefers a return to the Premier League.
Fulham looked to be the favourites to get his signature as he had played there two seasons ago.
However, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that the Chelsea Academy product is set to pen a new deal with Nottingham Forest.
Aina is set to have his medical in Spain on Friday, and the transfer will be sealed afterwards. The Nigerian defender is expected to sign a two-year contract with the option of a year extension.
Once the transfer is completed, he will become the third Super Eagles player at Nottingham Forest, alongside Taiwo Awoniyi and Emmanuel Dennis.
Forest will be the fourth English club that Aina will play for after stints with Hull City, Fulham, and Chelsea, where he started his career.
Aina would have to compete with Serge Aurier for a place in the starting eleven next season.
