Besiktas submit first bid for Super Eagles hopeful

Turkish giants Besiktas have taken a first significant step towards securing the services of Nigerian forward David Okereke, Soccernet.ng reports.

The competition for the Super Eagles hopeful’s signature is heating up, with several Italian clubs also expressing interest.

As reported by Tutto Cagliari, Besiktas have stolen a march on their rivals by tabling their first bid for Okereke.

The Istanbul-based club made the proposal of a loan arrangement, with an added stipulation that they have the option to purchase the player for €4 million.

However, Cremonese may have a different preference, favouring an outright sale rather than a loan deal for the 24-year-old forward.

Okereke joined the Italian club from Club Brugge last summer and found the net seven times in Serie A over the course of 33 appearances, despite his efforts being unable to prevent his team’s relegation to the second division.

Although Okereke may be inclined to remain in Italy and seek another opportunity in the top flight, the prospect of joining Besiktas could prove tempting.

The Black Eagles secured a commendable third-place finish in the Turkish league last season and are set to participate in the upcoming Europa Conference League.

Earlier reports from Soccernet.ng revealed that Cagliari and Bologna are also in the running for Okereke’s signature, adding further intrigue to the player’s potential destination.

  • They paid a price that I find quite high compared to his current strength. I quite expect.
