After a successful season that has seen the Nigerian lift the scudetto and claim the highest goal scorer award, a move is on the cards
Victor Osimhen has received two offers amidst talks with Napoli for a new contract, soccernet.ng reports.
The Nigerian international’s impressive performance for the Gli Azzurri in the 2022-23 season has piqued the interest of some top European clubs, raising his value in the market to an all-time high.
According to reports from AreaNapoli, Napoli have received two offers from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain to secure the signature of the Super Eagles forward.
However, Osimhen’s current deal with Napoli expires in June 2025, and a successful stint which saw the forward lift the scudetto and the Capocannoniere after scoring 26 goals in the league, restored the Gli Azzurri’s hope of renewing his contract, including a release clause of £138million to fend off interest from Europe’s big boys.
Nonetheless, Napoli currently face challenges as the Super Eagles star has just two years left on his contract, and with his hesitation to renew, if a consensus is not reached soon with both sides, the club could risk losing Osimhen for a lower fee next summer as he’ll only have a year left on his contract, or the year 2025 see him leave for free.
Also, after the departure of Luciano Spalleti, Napoli face the tough task of finding the right manager to lead this talented squad to replicate their success, as next season draws closer, and with news claiming teammates like Kim Min-Jae could be priced away from the Diego Armando Maradona stadium, Osimhen is reluctant to renew.
PSG and the Blues are keen on the signature of the Super Eagles talisman and are reportedly ready to discuss their offers with Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis.
Meanwhile, despite ADL’s reluctance to sell the Nigerian attacker, as contract renewal with Osimhen’s camp reportedly reaches a deadlock, the best choice would be to sell the former LOSC Lille star for a good price in the upcoming summer transfer window.
