Sierra Leone vs Nigeria AFCON Q: Peseiro lists Osimhen, Adeleye in 23-man squad, ignores Orban and Boniface

The Super Eagles will play Sierra Leone in a must-win encounter after winning only one of two games against Guinea-Bissau in March

The head coach of the Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro, has finally released his 23-man team to face Sierra Leone ahead of Africa Cup of Nations qualifying, Soccernet.ng reports.

The roster includes Napoli star Victor Osimhen, who was recently awarded Serie A's best attacker, goalkeeper Adebayo Adeleye, who will replace Francis Uzoho, and defender William Troost-Ekong, who is returning to the team after a lengthy injury layoff.

The long-awaited list of the former Venezuela manager contains four home-based players, including Victor Sochima (Rivers United), Olorunleke Ojo (Enyimba FC), Rivers United defender, Chidiebube Duru, and Divine Nwachukwu of Bendel Insurance.

The Super Eagles previously defeated the Leon Stars in 2022, coming back from a goal down to win 2-1. They will be expected to do the same when they go to Liberia to confront John Keister's troops at the SKD Sports Complex.

The 2013 AFCON Champions are slated to resume camp on June 11 to prepare for the encounter slated to hold on the 18th of June.

Full squad list here:

Simon Simon, Ahmed Musa and Kelechi Iheanacho have no business being in this team ahead of Gift Orban, Terrim Moffi and Chuba Akpom.
This coach is a journey man coach who will do the bidding of his master at NFF just to keep his job, because he is not relevant to serious footballing nations- he has no where to go.

this is piknic style again. they don’t consider how Nigerians feel if they lose slots to go at world scene. the monetary gain is what they know better. how can Nigerian NFF continue to make the same mistake. those players who come from relegated club’s have no importance in the team. the same team that failed to world is back while new talents are being turned out every day. we have no country. l will never believe that this players are the best we can assemble.
