Chukwueze has attracted interest from many top sides in Europe, but it seems like a move to the Premier League is more likely
Premier League rich boys Newcastle United are plotting a transfer for Super Eagles striker Samuel Chukwueze, Soccernet.ng reports.
Chukwueze enjoyed a decent campaign with Villarreal last season, chipping in with 13 goals and 11 assists in 50 appearances for the Yellow Submarine.
The 24-year-old forward turned heads after a brilliant performance against Real Marid in the second half of the season that saw him register two goals and an assist to help Villarreal to a 3-2 victory.
Chukwueze’s contract at Villarreal is set to expire at the end of next season, and he has refused to pen an extension at the club.
The tricky Super Eagles forward had been heavily linked with a move away from Villarreal. Arsenal, Real Madrid, AC Milan, and Aston Villa, have been touted as possible destinations.
However, Newcastle have entered the deal for the Nigeria international. According to Caught Offside, the Magpies are ready to rival Chukwueze’s other suitors.
Newcastle have been on the ascendency since their new owners took over two seasons ago. They have done great business in the transfer market, and that played an important role in their qualification for the Champions League last season.
Chukwueze is valued at €25million per Transfermarkt, but Villarreal would demand a huge fee before they let one of their prized assets leave.
nonetheless, Newcastle are financially buoyant, and they could eventually get Chuwueze. Also, they could provide Champions League football, and that could also attract the fleet-footed forward.
