Adeleye, Sochima, Olorunleke: Who should mount the podium in Francis Uzoho’s absence?

The Super Eagles of Nigeria gear up to face Sierra Leone in a crucial Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on the 18th of June, and finds itself facing a goalkeeper issue following the absence of first-choice shot-stopper Francis Uzoho due to a suspension.

Uzoho received a yellow card in the dying minutes of Nigeria's recent encounter with Guinea Bissau, ruling him out of the upcoming fixture.

This situation has sparked a debate among fans and experts about who should fill the void between the posts for the national team.

Several goalkeepers have caught the attention of the Nigerian football community with their remarkable performances, leaving fans wondering who will step up and safeguard the Super Eagles' net against Sierra Leone.

As a result, Soccernet.ng takes a closer look at three goalkeepers who have been selected by the Super Eagles boss for the crucial position.

First on the list is Adebayo Adeleye, who plays for Hapoel Jerusalem in Israel. Adeleye has showcased great reflexes, shot-stopping abilities, and excellent command of his area.

With experience playing in a competitive league, he has the potential to provide stability and confidence to the defense.

Another strong contender is Victor Sochima from Rivers United. Sochima has been in exceptional form for his club, displaying consistent performances and demonstrating his shot-stopping prowess.

His agility and distribution skills make him a well-rounded candidate to fill the goalkeeping role for the Super Eagles.

Lastly, Enyimba FC's Olorunleke Ojo brings his wealth of experience to the table. The goaltender has previously represented Nigeria at the U20 level and has been a consistent performer for his club.

Ojo, known for his strong presence in goal and ability to make crucial saves, could be a reliable choice to guard the Super Eagles' goal.

Ultimately, the decision lies in the hands of the Super Eagles coaching staff, led by Peseiro. But, while they face a crucial tie against the Leone stars, they must carefully assess the strengths, weaknesses, and current form of each goalkeeper before making their final selection.

The absence of Francis Uzoho poses a significant challenge for the Super Eagles, but Nigeria's rich pool of goalkeeping talent ensures that the team remains in capable hands.
