A year after letting three Nigerian internationals leave the club, the Smurfs are putting in the works to have another come down to Glasgow
2022 Europa League finalists Rangers have thrown their hat into the ring in the pursuit of the talented Super Eagles defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Soccernet.ng reports.
With a whirlwind of transfer rumors surrounding the Nigerian, it seems that this summer will be anything but quiet for the 25-year-old.
0sayi-Samuel’s potential departure from Fenerbahçe was on the cards during the winter transfer window, with numerous clubs expressing their interest.
However, despite the speculation, no deal materialised, leaving the Nigerian searching for a new suitor.
Now, it appears that Rangers have forged ahead of long-time suitors Bournemouth and Leeds United to emerge as a serious contender for his signature.
According to a report from Sporx, Rangers have submitted a bid to Fenerbahçe in their quest to secure Osayi-Samuel’s services.
The Turkish club’s response to this offer remains unknown, but it is no secret that the talented winger-cum-fullback desires a fresh start away from his current team.
During the past season, Osayi-Samuel showcased his abilities in 37 appearances for Fenerbahçe.
He provided one assist as the club narrowly missed out on the title, finishing as runners-up to Galatasaray.
His stock has steadily risen since his impressive debut for the Super Eagles in a friendly against Portugal last November.
Since then, Osayi-Samuel has become a mainstay for the three-time African champions.
He was named in the latest 23-man Super Eagles squad, which is set to face Sierra Leone in an upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifier later this month in Monrovia.
