It was a busy midweek for several Nigerian footballers plying their trade across Europe and beyond, with impressive performances and key contributions. Here’s a Soccernet.ng round-up of their actions:

In La Liga, Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze was in action as they faced Valencia, with the Super Eagles winger making his 23rd start of the season – a personal record. Despite a spirited performance from Villarreal, the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

Over in Serie A, David Okereke came off the bench to score an incredible goal for Cremonese, but AC Milan fought back to salvage a 1-1 draw at the San Siro.

Meanwhile, in Ligue 1, Moses Simon was a second-half substitute as Nantes suffered a 2-0 defeat away to Brest, continuing their poor form.

In the Belgian elite division, Victor Boniface featured as Royale Union Saint Gilloise suffered a setback in their title aspirations with a 0-2 home loss to Antwerp.

In the Czech Republic, Igho Ogbu was part of the Slavia Prague team that emerged victorious in the final of the Czech Cup, beating rivals Sparta Prague 2-0 to lift the trophy – his third career title.

In Greece, Oghenekaro Etebo put in an impressive display in midfield as Aris secured a 4-2 win over Volos NFC.

In Israel, Imoh Friday scored the crucial second goal that helped Beitar Jerusalem book their place in the final of the Israeli State Cup with a 3-1 win over Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Meanwhile, in the J2 League in Japan, Peter Utaka was the matchwinner for Ventforet Kofu as they recorded a narrow 1-0 victory over Iwaki.

In Norway’s 1 Division, Maxwell Michael Effiom netted a late equaliser for Skeid as they played out a thrilling 2-2 draw at home to Moss.

In South Africa’s PSL, Chibuike Ohizu gave Sekhukhune United the lead from the penalty spot. Still, TS Galaxy fought back to earn a 1-1 draw at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

Finally, in Uruguay, Christian Ebere scored the equaliser for Plaza Colonia as they secured a 1-1 draw away to Racing.

Overall, it was a mixed bag of results for Nigerian footballers in action across various leagues, with some notable performances and contributions.
