Dean Smith gives latest Iheanacho’s injury update ahead of crucial Liverpool match

Kelechi Iheanacho has played an important role in Leicester City’s fight to avoid relegation

Leicester City manager, Dean Smith, delivers hopeful Kelechi Iheanacho injury reports before their match against Liverpool at home, Soccernet.ng reports.

Due to an injury sustained against Leeds United, the Nigerian star has missed Leicester’s games against Everton at the King Power Stadium and their trip to Craven Cottage.

Speaking before of their important game against Liverpool on Monday, the former Norwich manager said that the Super Eagles striker is making strong recovery progress and will be training with the squad before their last two games.

The Nigerian will therefore be fit for both of their matches against the Magpies on May 22 as well as their last game of the 2022–23 season against West Ham United on May 28.

Despite his early struggles with Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes side, Iheanacho has managed to establish himself as an important member of the Leicester City club.

Following this, Smith, ahead of City’s clash against Liverpool, said, “Hopefully he’s due to train earlier next week rather than later. We thought he’d only have a build-up of two days before the Newcastle game, but he’s ahead of schedule, which is really pleasing for us.”

However, Iheanacho will be trying to continue where he left off in the East Midlands’ most important games, which are critical in deciding their future over relegation.
