The Super Eagles star has been absent from the Napoli squad since his return from international duty
The captain of Napoli, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, has revealed that the club can defeat AC Milan in their UEFA Champions League clash without the presence of Victor Osimhen in the squad.
The Nigerian star had to be omitted from Luciano Spalletti’s squad for the home league match against AC Milan and U.S. Lecce after suffering an injury while serving his nation on international duty.
Lorenzo claimed that the team could win games without Osimhen after it was recently reported that the Nigerian wouldn’t be able to participate for his club until the second leg of the Champions League encounter against Milan in Naples.
The Nigerian ace has been essential to Napoli’s quest for the title this season as well as their advancement to the UCL quarterfinals, netting 25 goals in all 29 of the parthenopeans’ matches this season.
The former Empoli defender recognised the Super Eagles striker’s importance to the club despite that. Still, he expressed his complete trust in the players who would be ready to take on Stefano Pioli’s side.
“We know that Osimhen is a great player and he is very important for us, but we don’t depend only on one player. We have and have full confidence in the available players, so we are calm from this point of view. I repeat, Osimhen is important for us, but he won’t be there in this match, and therefore, we will face him with the players we have.” he said, as cited by Tutto Napoli.
On Wednesday night, the Parthenopeans will make their way to the San Siro stadium, where a victory or a draw would put them in a good position.
