The 2023 FIFA World Cup co-host New Zealand, Haiti, and the Super Falcons will face off against each other in the coming days.

Asisat Oshoala and Desire Oparanozie, two Super Falcons players, reunite as they get ready for their FIFA World Cup warm-up match against Haiti and New Zealand.

Oparanozie (29) was called up to the Super Falcons squad before Oshoala (28), but both players have played key roles for the Nigerian women’s national team, even at the international level.

Both the Wuhan Jianghan University player and the standout player for Barcelona Femeni competed for the Super Falcons side that won the African Women’s Championship in 2016 and 2018.

However, in 2019, coach Thomas Dennerby appointed Oparanozie as Nigeria’s new captain and Oshoala as vice captain. Together, they guided the side to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.

The former Wolfsburg player has been kept off the national team for some time, and speculations claim that she was the one who spearheaded efforts for equal pay in Nigerian football owing to inequalities with the incentives earned by the squad’s male teammates.

However, the Nigerian star was recently called up to the national team, ahead of their warm-up games, when her “disappeared” identity was found.

Oshoala and Oparanozie have a strong bond among the Super Falcons squad as they defeat opponents both domestically and internationally.

The two stars were spotted in a video unwinding during practice as they gear up for their match against Haiti tomorrow.

With their professionalism in their warm-up games, the Nigerian stars are anticipated to give Rand Waldrum’s squad vitality and control.
