Nottingham Forest looked like they had gotten something of the Bees, but they were shocked at the death
Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka provided the assist for Brentford’s last-minute goal in their 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest, Soccernet.ng reports.
Brentford welcomed Nottingham Forest to the Community Stadium on Saturday for their Premier League clash.
Both sides were coming off big victories in their recent games. The Bees defeated Chelsea 2-0, while Forest beat Brighton 3-1.
Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi led the line for Nottingham Forest, while Onyeka started from the bench for Nottingham Forest.
Brentford were the better side from the start but they were quite profligate, failing to convert any of their eight attempts on goal.
However, the Tricky Trees had just two attempts, one of which resulted in a goal for Danilo just before the break. As usual, Awoniyi put in a good shift in the attack, always probing at defenders and pressing for the ball. He was taken off in the 54th minute.
Brentford pushed hard for an equalizer in the second half, but Nottingham Forest held on strong. Bees boss Thomas Frank introduced Nigerian midfielder Onyeka with 20 minutes left, and that decision later paid off.
Ivan Toney scored in the 82nd minute, but Brentford pushed for more. Unfortunately for Forest, they could not hang on.
Onyeka played a nice pass to Josh Dasilva who was running through on goal, and the English midfielder placed a strong finish past Jesus Navas into the Nottingham Forest net to make it 2-1.
The goal proved to be the winner, as Brentford ran out with the 2-1 victory. The loss puts the Tricky Trees in a difficult situation, as they could drop into the relegation zone if Leicester City or Everton win their games.
